2026 Canadian Tollycruisers Rendezvous Canada Tollycraft

RENDEZCLUE DETAILS

as of April 24, 2026

RendezCLUE is unlike any other game at the Rendezvous. The characters are fictional. The crime is imaginary. The investigation, however, is very real.

Object of the Game

To solve a nautical crime by discovering
WHO did it, WHERE it happened, and HOW it was done.

Victim & Hosts

01 Marina Belle

VICTIM: Marina Belle

The Ill-Fated Socialite
Owner of Shiloh, the 1978 Tollycraft 37. Marina Belle was the queen of the marina, always impeccably dressed, margarita in hand, and wearing a sparkling smile for everyone. Known for her flamboyant parties, she had a knack for knowing everyone’s secrets. Now, tragically, she is at the center of a mysterious murder.

Quirks: Dramatic entrances, loved margaritas and elevated ramen, signature Tolly Teal ensemble.

Catchphrase (if alive): “Darlings, life is far too short for cheap tequila… or mediocre ramen!”

01 Gabriola Van Isle

HOST: Gabriola Van Isle

The Hostess with the Mostest
Gabriola Van Isle is taked with keeping the show on the road. She does so with a drink in one hand and her event notes in the other. She is everywhere at once, greeting guests and making sure the plan holds together. She’s less concerned with the exact minute and more concerned with the energy of the docks – making sure the party stays on the rails, more or less.

Quirks: Welcoming guests with a smile, adjusting the plan on the fly, never seen without her drink and her notes.

Catchphrase: “Is everyone having fun? Everything is happening exactly on schedule…ish!”

01 Montague Glenthorne

HOST: Montague (Monty) Glenthorne

The Laid Back Butler
The friendly, laid-back butler who keeps the event running with a dry wit. Dressed in his finest “marina-standard” tuxedo, he knows everyone’s secrets and is happy to share them -provided the bribe is right. Nothing flusters him except a warm drink.

Quirks: Frequent flask-sipping, reluctant group-herding, and making copious amounts of ice.

Catchphrase: “I’m a butler, I buttle. And right now, I am buttleing the heck out of this event!”

Suspects

01 Captain Teal

Captain Teal

The Self-Proclaimed Captain
Claims to be a retired naval officer, but no navy has any record of him. He spins wild tales of near-death escapes and secret treasures, and nobody knows which stories are true – and frankly, he doesn’t either. The details change depending on how many margaritas are involved.

Quirks: Never seen without his self-designed Tolly Teal “captain’s” uniform, has a toast for every occasion whether appropriate or not, carries a margarita glass he never puts down.

Catchphrase: “To your health – you look like you could use it!”

01 Commodore Gold

Commodore Gold

The One Who Runs Thing
Nobody is entirely sure what Commodore Gold actually does, but she is certain she is in charge. She refuses to speak at a normal volume, so she uses her gold megaphone to keep everyone in order. The only crack in her armour is a tequila habit she is convinced nobody notices.

Quirks: Refers to everyone by the wrong name on purpose, always has a fresh glass of “water” that smells suspiciously like tequila, never seen without oversized sunglasses (regardless of the hour).

Catchphrase: (Into megaphone) “More water, anyone? I’m having water. This is water.”

01 Doctor Crimson

Dr. Crimson

The Surgical Diva
Dr. Crimson is convinced she is the protagonist of a high-drama medical soap opera that only she can see. She didn’t leave the hospital because of “incidents,” but because they refused to install a wind machine in the operating room for her dramatic entrances. She now treats the marina as her private ward, where the only thing she operates on is a bottle of top-shelf tequila.

Quirks: Never seen without her stethoscope, places it on everyone’s foreheads mid-sentence to “check their vibes,” and insists that a double-shot of tequila is the only known cure for a common cold.

Catchphrase: “Code Red! This margarita is dangerously low on ice – Monty, bring me ice, stat!”

01 Bosun Blackwater

Bosun Blackwater

The Grumpy Mechanic
Bosun Blackwater doesn’t just fix boats; he is convinced they are his children and everyone is mistreating them. He was seen tucking a Tollycraft in with a literal blanket and shushing guests who talk too loudly near a sensitive carburetor. He doesn’t hate people; he just thinks engines are better conversationalists.

Quirks: Never seen without oil-stained overalls, refuses to fix anything unless you apologize to the boat first, and keeps a “naughty list” of people who don’t use coasters on their fiberglass.

Catchphrase: “Shhh! Can’t you see the alternator is trying to nap?”

01 Mr Persimmon

Mr. Persimmon

The Mysterious Stranger
Wearing a trench coat that feels out of place at the marina, Mr. Persimmon is not one for conversation. That is until he starts to describe his perfect bowl of ramen and favourite bottle of tequila. Nobody knows where he came from, but everyone agrees the ramen is worth the questions.

Quirks: Never seen without his trench coat, he’s always carrying a grocery bag of fresh scallions, oddly comfortable in a crowd.

Catchphrase: “You have questions. I have scallions.”

01 Professor Indigo

Professor Indigo

The Absent-Minded Genius
Professor Indigo speaks with unwavering confidence about things she barely understands. Her “research log” is crammed with diagrams, equations, and detailed notes on her favourite ramen restaurants. Her most cited research: three hours of dock wind measurements, logged under “optimal ramen cooling times.”

Quirks: Glasses that are always slipping down her nose, lab notebook always in hand, misuses big words, stops mid-thought to jot down new ramen ideas.

Catchphrase: “Check the wind, trust the noodles.”

01 Miss Rose (1)

Miss Rose

The Dockside Darling
Miss Rose is never seen without a smile or her knitting needles and yarn. Her Tolly Teal ramen bowl knitted coozies are coveted on the dock. Unfortunately, every compliment flusters her and she loses track of her stitches so they take forever to finish.

Quirks: Always has her knitting needles and yarn, combines heirloom jewelry with dollar store flip flops, has a smile for everyone.

Catchphrase: “Knit one, purl two… oh darn, I lost track.”

01 Wharfinger Greenbuoy

Wharfinger Green

The Cheerful Dockmaster
Wharfinger Green is supposed to know all the boats and their owners. But the clipboard he always tucks under his arm and guards carefully contains nothing but ramen recipes. Everyone wishes he actually used it for his job.

Quirks: Whistles constantly, clipboard never leaves his hand, suspiciously helpful, always waving at everyone on the docks.

Catchphrase: “Welcome aboard! I definitely remember your name… probably.”

How to Play RendezClue

Someone did it. Somewhere. With something.

RendezCLUE is a weekend-long murder mystery during the Canadian Tollycruisers Rendezvous. Inspired by the classic game of CLUE, the story unfolds throughout the event.

The victim is Marina Belle – The Ill-Fated Socialite, whose untimely demise aboard Shiloh sets the mystery in motion. Guiding the proceedings are two familiar figures: Gabriola Van Isle (The Hostess with the Mostest) and Montague (Monty) Glenthorne (The Laid Back Butler).

Each Tolly plays as a team, collecting clues, comparing notes, and following a trail of suspects, locations, and weapons tied to the fictional crime aboard Shiloh. Some clues help. Some mislead. Some exist purely for fun.

There is one correct solution.

Clues appear throughout the weekend, and crews are free to speculate, bluff, and change their minds as often as they like.

The mystery builds toward a final night reveal, where accusations are shared, awards are handed out, and the truth finally comes to light. A grand prize recognizes the winning crew, alongside a handful of fun, entirely unofficial honours.

Participation is optional. Crews decide how much they take part.

At the start of the Rendezvous, one card from each category is secretly designated as the solution. All remaining cards are distributed as clues throughout the weekend.

Each player receives three clue cards in their goodie bag. Additional clues may be obtained by scanning QR codes at scheduled activities, through draws and raffles and meeting new members.

Note: Not every clue is factual. Some exist solely to mislead or to have fun.

Three types of clue cards:

  • Suspect
  • Room
  • Weapon

One Detective Notes sheet

One Accusation Form per player

For the purposes of RendezCLUE, a player is the crew aboard each attending Tolly.

All individuals on a Tolly participate together as a single player.

During the Rendezvous, a terrible nautical crime occurred aboard Shiloh.

One suspect, one location, and one weapon form the correct solution.

If a card is seen, that card is not part of the final answer.

Players gather clues throughout the weekend. Participation does not require attending every activity, but may reveal useful information.

Making a Suggestion

  • Example: “I suggest it was Commodore Gold, in the Engine Room, with the Tequila Bottle.”
  • Other players may quietly disprove part of a suggestion, or reveal nothing at all.

Lying Is Allowed

Players are not required to tell the truth when discussing clues, suggestions, or theories.

Detective Notes

Players may keep notes to track which cards have been seen and which possibilities have been eliminated.

When a player believes the full solution is known, an Accusation may be made at any time during the Rendezvous.

To make an Accusation:

  1. Complete the Accusation Form in full
  2. Record the date and time of submission
  3. Name one suspect, one location, and one weapon
  4. Deliver the completed form to Shiloh

Once an Accusation is submitted, the answer is final. The player may no longer participate in suggestions and may not confirm, deny, or react to other players’ theories. The player may continue to enjoy the weekend, but all detective work is complete.

Each player may submit one Accusation only.

On the final night, players are invited to act out their accusations.

These performances determine secondary awards:

  • Best Accusation
  • Least Believable Alibi
  • Tim Curry Overacting Award
  • Best Murder Weapon Reveal
  • Most Dramatic Character

The solution will then be revealed.

The grand prize winner is the player who submitted the first correct written Accusation, based on the recorded date and time. If multiple correct Accusations were submitted, the earliest valid submission wins. If no correct Accusations were submitted, the solution will still be revealed.

Applause is mandatory. Accuracy is irrelevant.

Players do not need to attend every activity to play, but paying attention matters. Clues build on one another, and the answer is logically solvable.

RendezCLUE is meant to be fun, social, and just a little ridiculous.

Someone did it. Somewhere. With something.
